Funerals and Memorial Services
Our three churches are always ready to offer support at the end of a life. We can conduct funeral services in the churches, or our clergy will hold a service at a crematorium for you. Another possibility is a memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one.
The first step is to meet a Funeral Director; they will discuss the options open to you and if you would like a funeral in church or a service at a crematorium, they will approach the church on your behalf. You don't have to be religious or a churchgoer to have a Church of England funeral - it is open to all.
If you choose to have a Church of England funeral, someone from the church will visit you to listen to the story of the person you knew, and will go through all the details of the funeral service itself.
Remember, too, that a church can offer continuing support even after the funeral is over; you might like to light a candle, to say a prayer in church or to join our communities at a service on a Sunday or weekday.
